Q:

Traffic and housing problems in major cities would be solved by moving big companies, factories and their employees to the countryside. Do you agree or disagree?

A:

       Many developing countries is facing a terrible traffic and housing problems in big cities, especially in China. Moving stuff to countryside maybe a useful way in one place but in the same time may mess up the city’s administration and supervision. It depends on every situation. I hardly agree with it without some specific conditions.

       Recently, an official media acclaimed in news that the true murder of major cities traffic was drivers’ violation of the city traffic bans. Drivers’ deregulations were the truly main reason of the chaos in city traffic along with illogical design of the roads. Except some big roads, most of the city’s roads are small roads with only 1 or 2 lines per direction. What if moving companies, factories and staffs to countryside without improving the city’s road’s infrastructure and forcing drivers to learn more about rules of traffic? It must cost countless money and gain no achievements.  

On the other hand, housing problems are caused by rapid increasing of city populations. Those new comers consist of new born baby and outside immigration. Taking simple actions to move companies, factories and related people to suburb will not work when another new wave of population comes. Many developing countries are confronting urbanization population’s growing while developed countries facing a serious population’s decreasing and suburbanization. Communities and buildings should be well overall arranged by city government but not just simply moving people to suburban areas.

Eventually, city management is a very complex work and it’s about citizens’ significant residence and traveling. None simple policy or action would solve such a complicated problem. Many more forestallment should be taken to harmonize this action so that we can achieve a satisfying consequence.

Q:

Does modern technology make life more convenient, or was life better when technology was simpler? What’s your opinion?

A:

       With no doubt that modern life are much more convenient than the ancient era. Though we may be suffering the pressure of surviving from the complex daily life and complicated society, we may never fear to confront them, Life is absolutely better than the passed time.

Simple, in other words, is called boring and humdrum in many situations. Our ancestors were trapped by the mountains, sea and the sky while we are traveling all around the world to taste the world’s fantasy. They got up at six o’clock everyday and worked a whole year without adequate rest to fertilize the crops or vegetables which they need for survival.

Obviously, we don’t need or even like this kind of simple.　Simple is something that frees us from the daily laboring or reiteration and leave us time to relax and get down to something interesting. High technology has been helping us since the Industrial Revolution. Life is getting more and more convenient every second as the result of the technology’s fantastic speed of development. Washing machine, refrigerator, AC, TV and many other labor releasing machines constitute the convenient life we have today and make it fabulous. 

Besides, the most important part of better life is that we carrying no pressure or stress in our minds. It is very inanition for someone to make a simpler life by abandoning the technology or refusing to use it. The best way we shall choose is that learning the skills of saving the soul from pressure, laugh more, smile more and enjoy the convenient life that technology brings.

Q:

If a five-year-old commits a crime, should the parents be held responsible and punished? What is the age of the child do you think parents should not take the responsibility?

A:

       I am so astonished to find that a five-year-old can commit a crime and I barely imagine how terrible the family could bring a simple and unaffected baby up to a criminal. It is obvious that the parents take the most responsibility and deserve a punishment.

Know as a common sense, every baby is just like a pure white paper which doesn’t have any social color or paint on it. They only know some very natural feeling such as hungry, thirsty and painfulness. Therefore, it is a very decisive time to cultivate their characters. Besides, there was an old saying in Chinese that 3-year-old can show the whole life. From this point of view, we can gain an absolute conclusion that many evidences have showing the importance of the first three or four year’s cultivation of a baby. The parents here are playing crucial roles in this part of the children’s life and it’s their obligation that they should guide the children’s behaviors and let them know what is good and wrong. Since this is parents’ responsibility, it is their breach of duty to connive their children or even let them commit crimes. Parents should be held punished for their misprisions.

Nevertheless, when the children have grown up to be adults, parents should no more take the responsibilities of their kids’ crimes, in other words, kids held the responsible themselves, in particular when they reach the age of 16. According to the common knowledge, people who are 16 years old have built their own philosophy except some psychopaths or madmen. They can judge whether they are acting against the law in a very easy, precise way and method even though they may have some violence tendency. Just as they’ve got enough information to know the basic laws and owns capabilities to judge it, they should be treated as independent juristic people and play like every common citizen. Parents no longer have to be punished by laws but ethics and affectionateness for their children’s crime.

As has been noted, parents should pay for their misprisions of educating their children or misguiding where their children are only five-year-old. Yet, they don’t have to pay for children’s crimes after the reach of children’s sixteen-year-old. Wish every family would never encounter this tragedy.

Q:

Some people think that children should be taught to compete, but others think that children should be taught to co-operate that become more useful adults. Express some reasons of both views and give your own opinions.

A:

       Humans are born gregarious animals. No matter we have an extraordinary high level of civilization or we just stayed in forests to hunt and eat fresh meat without cooking, we live in some certain societies which are in various kinds of organizations.  And therefore, we are taught to co-operate and live with other people, or we can’t survive in it. As I have said, I think that children’s learning being cooperative is better than just be taught to compete.

       Obviously, knowing how to compete is a very important skill in modern society. Competition is getting more and more furious as the economy grows in an unbelievable rapid speed. Everybody wants to compete for a better job or chance but it is not realistic for everybody who owns that will. Those fortunate jobs and chances are left to the strongest people who deserve them. So, many parents who want their children have great future become enthusiastic over teaching children the skills and concepts of competing with others.

       Yet, the society doesn’t need that many leaders while anxiously desires for useful adults (labors) who know about the cooperative things. Many recent researches and surveys show a very interest phenomenon, which is, the managers or the administrators are more willing to hire employees who know harmonize with colleagues and collaborate with co-agents.  Because people who are too competitive, in other words, aggressive are not always suitable for communicating with others, for they are thinking about winning matters a lot.  Children who taught to cooperative are relate well to other people. They can earn love, sympathy, friendship in a very simple easy way. Knowing how to cooperate and harmonize, they are the lubricant of this giant economic and social engine.

In summary, our society lacks of cooperative elements other than leader elements. As leaders exert their abilities to accelerating the development of society, we need more cooperative people as basic elements to make a harmonious world to live in. Children are the future of human beings, I insist that they should be taught much more to co-operate while with a little bit more than necessary competitive things.

Q:

   Many people think that the government should spend the large amount of money it is channeling into artistic and cultural projects on basic infrastructure projects instead. Do you agree or disagree?

A:

   Basically, artistic and cultural developments represent that the country's civilization has come to certain range of prosperity. But meanwhile a good status of basic infrastructure will give every citizen a satisfied feeling of habitation. I do really doubt that people can live in such a "miraculous" place which has a well developed of cultural things but in a terrible situation of city conditions.

   Admittedly, spending a large sum of money in order to make progress in artistic and cultural is a distingue and noble-minded policy. But on the other hand, we need to set down to think over the advantages and disadvantages of making appropriation of transferring money which should be spent on city's beautification to some kind of virtual things. An old Chinese saying tells us a very principle rule of cultural and proprieties in human society. "Grain is the basic condition of music and poem." I think it's a very sapient apothegm. In most developing countries, especially some penniless rural areas, people need to fulfill their stomachs before they settle down to study and enjoy the beauties of arts, for the simple reason that they are the creatures who have to eat. Maybe basic infrastructure hasn't reach the importance of necessary, but it is very approaching. Suppose a government is supervising a city. Citizens do not have enough roofs to save them from the pitiless rain and storms but afford to buy the concert tickets which have 90 percent of discount from the government's sustentation fund. I will definitely sure that the mayor and parliament will be dismissed by the angry citizens.

   Unlike the point of view above, the government of developed country should spend most of their money in the spiritual things, that is, art and culture. Because they have a compatible situation of transferring their budget focuses from this to that. The people in wealthy areas don't need to worry about the food or clothing things while those poor farmers finding their breakfast for tomorrow. Therefore, arts and culture are what they anxiously pursuing and it is very wise to have that money spending on the artistic and cultural projects. Only if some other unfortunate calamities happen, citizens in the city mentioned above will predicatively uphold the administration of the bureau.

   In a sentence, it’s difficult and complex to support the each idea in such a simple way. It depends on the conditions that the city in, after all, basic infrastructure. If it’s good, we spend more on art, otherwise we go back to the infrastructure.

Story that I heard in my childhood

Several days ago, one of my most important day in my life passed silently. and it’s my 20^th birthday.

       For over twenty years, I have always been a happy kid until I recognized that I am a grown-up now. Though it’s too late for me to acknowledge that stupid truth, still I have to remind myself of that. Think over the stories and fairly tales which affected my childhood and built my cloud-castle, I find many shadows of the roles in my character eventually. Neither of my parents had told me anything about love, justice or freedom which is too hard to explain to a 10-year-old child, but though it must have been something teaching me those indescribable words. As a great teacher and a wonderful buddy, the story book taught us many things in their perfect words. The moral, hiding in the rows and columns of the pages, made me drown in the books and track the fantastic scenario.

       Even I am now over twenty years old, the memory of <<Monkey King>> still sometimes dragging me back to a fantastic world which there’s a super hero monkey. And of course, the stupid day-dreamer must be the monkey king and he is always trying hard to save the life from devil and demon. Reading the book, the innocent boy began to know what is justice and justness, and no matter how hard It would be, we should never give up to purchase them. So, I am in gratitude to the books who taught me not only how to be a man but a real man and engraved my character all the while.

       I would rather believe that the legend set up a great model for us to imitate than the story left us some bad results. But a resent research show that because many of the girls were deeply touched by the fairly tales like snow white, many of them can’t get out of the tales to the reality making their marriage bad. The study tells us for the girls are always dreaming that they are the princess and their husband or boyfriend should be as perfect as the prince in the story. They expect too high to let their fere make. The huge fall between the myth and reality make the girls feel extremely bad as if they are dropping from heaven to the heavy ground. While the girls are feeling sad, male readers like me are always complaining that there’s no such beautiful girl and we got no super power inwardly. It’s like the story made the dream and then broke the dream.

In western countries, children are being told that there will be a Santa Clause who will give you a present at the night of Christmas day and put it in your long big red sock. It’s very beautiful story until they are too old to be lied to. It’s really cruel to tell the children you lied to them in the whole past ten or twelve years making them never trust their parents any more.

       Anyway, knowing something is better than knowing nothing. Our story books did a lot for us that we should never forget their contribution. Whatever the result be, every kid have their own dreaming and wonder land which is the greatest treasure in their life. I guess it’s the story’s work which makes me a kid in my mind.

       Writing this essay, many marvelous stories and screens appear in my mind, they are so beautiful that I can’t even abandon them in the corner and I finally realized that I am still in love with those friends.
